TD 82: Life Does Survive - Guillotine

The fact that the guillotine was invented as a humane and painless method of execution, but the current medical consensus is that life does survive, for a period of roughly thirteen seconds, varying slightly depending on the victim's build, health and the immediate circumstances of the decapitation.
ORIGIN late 18th cent.: from French, named after Joseph-Ignace Guillotin (1738–1814), the French physician who recommended its use for executions in 1789.
