Temori Dolls – Everyone's portraits
Welcome to the world of Temori Dolls. This is not an exhibition of selected works that won on the stage of aesthetics or commerce, these are soft sculptures that the author had to create, they were necessary for her.
The work of Sanja Poštić's hands and her keen eye for details and movements, brings us intense stories that have direct inspiration in the works of various artists. The sharpness of the content, death and love in many ways, and their intertwining make the Temori Dolls exhibition - an exhibition about everything. Dolls, on the other hand, bring the whole thing down to earth, grounding us in their simplicity.
Is it about one doll that is sewn again and again in strong colors and passes through the walls of depression hinted at by the French artist Nicole Claveleux, and by Sanja Poštić taken through another wall further, then the same doll goes into the risky world of playing with a slingshot pointed at the face, based on the performance of Marina Abramović and Ulaj. Or it is a new doll in every situation, and they appear through scenes from the works of Keith Haring, Yayoi Kusama, Stelark, Nara, Banksy, Warhol, Arakii, Javier Cayeha, Maria Rubinka, Tomazawa Mimijo, Maurizio Cattelan, Gilbert and George, and of course, the excellent Katalin Ladik and Zograf.
Anyway, one way to approach little Temori Dolls is to start this animated movie in which we are the main actresses and actors, and the doll is our identifying heroine. To stare at them means to get really close to them and find ourselves in their space, where they are no longer so small, and we feel that being an audience in the gallery means deciding how and what we look at, where we move, deciding how we listen, and much more which awakens and connects.
Temori Dolls welcomes us on the line of connection between the aforementioned artists whose works inspired Sanja Poštić. If you didn't know about some of these artists, Temori Dolls bring you to the door of their neighborhood, always one step past the artwork they refer to, because the doll is completely in its own situation. Whether it's about the suicide of a squirrel according to Cattelan's work or Banksy's bathroom, it's still about the suicide of a bald doll, or her bathroom.
Dolls' themes are endless, and one of their continuations is the lyrics that go with each doll. I extracted those sentences and verses from the heart of my older ones and some completely new, as yet unpublished poems. In the poems, all this has already happened, both of love and death, in a style of its own. However, it was not enough to consider the big question about the relationship between text and visual work only by instinctively placing them next to each other. So the texts here are the voice of the doll at a certain moment of reading and observation, whether they zoom in on a detail, whether they directly address the observer, or whether they insist on a question related to the scene in which they are. Mostly inspired by the perks of being a Guerrilla Girls artist, the perks of being a Temori Doll are so instructive they should be memorized:
You are here without pressure to earn.
You are not competing with anyone.
You are a scene from life, wherever they take you.
You can become famous long after the visitors of the exhibition are no longer in this world.
Someone will always think of you as a toy.
Someone will always think of you as a reflection.
Someone will always think you're brand new.
You don't have to prove yourself to anyone.
There is no one older than you.
There is no one younger than you.
You are dressed in a completely original wardrobe.
What she would suffer for is already over.
What you hope for is sure to come.
You are not ashamed of praise.
Your photos will appear in art magazines and daily newspapers.

No, veliko pitanje o odnosu teksta i vizuelnog rada nije bilo dovoljno promišljati samo instinktivnim preslaganjem jedno uz drugo.
Fotke će ti izaći u art magazinu i dnevnim novinama.
