TD 130 THE PRICE

 

Balloons in contemporary art are very much present. From Banksy's girl with the heart balloon self destructed at the auction (Sotheby's 2018) to what has happened about a month ago is that one of Koons's balloon dogs was accidentally broken at the exhibition in Miami. The main news everywhere was the price of the sculpture ($42000). The loss of the art piece was irrelevant as well as other stuff like: was anyone harmed? was it vandalism act? etc. The only issue in every news was the price and the insurance story around it. Same was with the Banksy art piece - the price was the only fascination. Coincidence?
