TD 132 ART FOR ART'S SAKE

 

Stelarc became famous in 70's and 80's for literally hanging (from the ceilings) on 16 shark hooks. This happened many times (about 25) in different galleries, different poses, and different timings. He fainted many times and most of the times the performance was short. Lather on he implemented an ear onto his arm "as a permanent modification of the body architecture". The ear on arm required several surgeries.  Brutal self harm done by many artists like Stelarc, Marina Abramovic or Ron Athey seams to me like something that can be done to a sculpture with the somewhat similar effect.
